INTERLUDE—our new program of films and videos—presents a new highlight every day from the collection at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld. The screenings will mainly feature works by visual artists who devised actions and performances specially for the camera. The format of the monitor set the frame for the piece, defining the bounds in which the artists could act. Other works show how artists manipulated electronic images and created new connections with found footage and visuals. For thirteen days, the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum will become a cinema and a place where visitors can immerse themselves in the early pioneering days of video art.
The film program will be shown in the first gallery on the first level of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum. All of the other rooms will be closed until the opening of The Adventure of Our Collection II.
