Haus Lange

Julio Le Parc (b. 1928 in Mendoza, Argentina, lives and works in Paris) emigrated to Paris in 1958, where he co-founded the artist group GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel). Since the 1960s, he has been a pioneer in updating concrete art with a claim to political activism. His works of light art, prints, and paintings encourage movement and social interaction. The artist uses light, mirrors, geometric installations—forms that capture movement and moments of unpredictability. Even today, Le Parc experiments with human perception, incorporating the latest technologies, for example in virtual reality works. The first major institutional solo exhibition in Germany since 1972 invites visitors to Haus Lange, to an interactive presentation of kinetic objects, games, surveys, and spaces. For a long time, Le Parc has been concerned with the question of how art can take audience participation into account.

HLHE Dialog
In the series of dialogical exhibitions in Haus Esters and Haus Lange, two visionary positions of 1960s kinetic art from two continents will meet: With the installations by Adolf Luther from Krefeld and the French-Argentine artist Julio Le Parc, the art of geometric abstraction in light and space is presented as an international phenomenon. The exhibitions show how both artists worked simultaneously to break down the barrier between the viewer and the artwork.

To celebrate the end of the exhibition duo, Kunstmuseen Krefeld cordially invites you to enjoy the interactive spatial experiences of Adolf Luther and Julio Le Parc during our Finissage Sunday. Guided tours in all three houses - Haus Esters, Haus Lange, KWM - on different topics invite to a lively exchange and creative play stations are waiting for young and old in the context of the "Platzspiele". One of the highlights of the day will be a dialogue tour by Katia Baudin and Dr. Magdalena Broska, Research Director of the Adolf Luther Foundation. The two exhibition curators will provide fascinating background information on Luther's work during their tour of the exhibition. At the end of the evening, Katia Baudin and Keren Detton, Director of the FRAC Grand Large - Hauts-de-France in Krefeld's partner city Dunkerque, will talk about how a museum can be a platform for interaction - for exchange, shared experiences and, not least, shared fun. And the winner of Julio Le Parc's art raffle will be drawn. Those who have filled in and handed in a questionnaire from Le Parc can soon be the owner of an original work of art!
You can relax from the exciting exhibitions and the varied program in the gardens of Haus Lange and Haus Esters. Dom's Catering offers snacks, coffee, cool drinks and cocktails.
