This beautiful lithograph is to be seen in the context of Kiki Smith's long-term interest in flowers, which she also reflects in her "Her Home" exhibition in the Museum Haus Esters.
A bouquet of flowers has become a metaphor of the human life-cycle in Smith's universe, while a bunch of flowers thrown in the air alludes to fateful events (marriage, death) in which cosmological constellations make a powerful effect, as identified in the borrowing from Hermes Trismegistos in the title.
